Joanne Katleen nació en 1965, en Inglaterra. Autora de los siete libros de Harry Potter, esta escritora marcó la vida de muchos jóvenes nacidos en el 90, quienes fueron devueltos al hábito de la lectura gracias a las aventuras que escribió la autora sobre este joven brujo.
Según ella, la idea del libro le llegó durante las largas horas que pasaba esperando el tren cuando era niña. En ese momento no lo escribió, pero fue una idea que fue creciendo y madurando en su cabeza.
Entre 1993 (año en el que su hija Jessica nació) y 1996 (año en el cual recibió la oferta de publicación del libro por Bloomsbury) debió no sólo atender a su hija, y trabajar para sostenerla, sino que durante las noches escribió su libro hasta terminarlo.
En el 2001 fue publicada la primera película de la saga: ‘Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal’. Desde entonces la franquicia se convirtió en uno de los hitos en taquilla del mundo. La última película saldrá en el 2011, la segunda parte de ‘Harry Potter y las reliquias de la muerte’.
Su gran imaginación y capacidad narrativa sin duda convirtieron a esta gran escritora en la Tolkien de esta generación.

Joanne Katleen was born in 1965, England. Creator of the 7 books of Harry Potter, this writer influences thousands of youth across the globe who were born on 90′s, who were back to reading thanks to the adventures of this young wizard.
According to her, the idea of the book came from the long delay hours that she was waiting the train when she was a child. She didn’t wrote it then, but it was an idea that was growing up in her head.
Between 1.993 (when her daughter Jessica was born) and 1.996 (when she gets the offer of publication by Bloomsbury) she had to raise her daughter and working to maintain her, and during nights, when her child finally got sleep, she wrotes her book until she finally finished it.
Harry Potter first movie was screened in 2001, named ‘Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone’, and since then the franchise became a hit, and a incredible success in box office. The last movie, the second part of ‘Harry Potter and the deadly hollows’ will be screened on 2011.
Her great imagination and narrative skill made J.K. Rowling the Tolkien of this generation.
